Godzilla missing after overnight break-in

Who knew that there was still a rash of Godzilla items being stolen?

A little while back I had chronicled the theft of a Godzilla slot machine.

(You can read the original article here).

Now another bandit has made off with a Godzilla rubber figure of sorts, this after breaking into a comic book store in Oklahoma City.

Unfortunately there's no official picture of the item, so I pulled from the web what I thought it would best look like.

Interestingly enough this was the only item stolen from the store.

I guess one can still say that's a good thing, as this indicates this is what the thief most wanted.

Preview: Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters TPB, Vol. #3

Comicbookresources.com has a great 8-page preview of the recently released Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters Volume 3.

Looking through it again I was reminded of the one constant criticism I had with this series...the artwork.

IDW did the right thing with removing Erik Powell as the writer...but they certainly kept the subpar artwork going to the very end.

Their covers kicked ass...it's what was inside that was such a disappointment.

In any case if you want to see this preview check out the link here:

Godzilla Video of the Day

What you're looking at is the incredible motion menu associated with the Godzilla 1985 Blu-Ray.

Godzilla 1985 Blu-Ray you ask?! Where?!!!!

Unfortunately it looks like it's only available overseas, although this YouTube user claims it's region-free (which is how he's able to play it on a US Blu-Ray Player).

Take a quick look at the beautiful menu as it plays across the screen.

Look at those crisp, clean and restored images.

It seems like such a travesty that Toho has not made this available in the USA yet.

(For the original analysis on this, check out my own video here).

Hopefully we'll get something soon when the newest Godzilla movie comes out.

KING KONG VS. GODZILLA 50th Anniversary Screening

In San Leandro, CA this upcoming June?

Well you're in luck because on June 16th at the Bal Theatre they will be hosting a 50th anniversary screening of the classic film "King Kong vs. Godzilla".

Hard to believe that it's been that long since this film first debuted.

Fifty years old and it still has quite an impact among any movie fan, particularly for its cheesy special effects and acting.

But hey it's still King Kong against Godzilla, that in itself speaks volumes.

Godzilla Video of the Day

While I know this isn't technically Godzilla, I'm listing this because I truly hope that when the new Godzilla movie comes out...it'll have a scene just like this.

This is my FAVORITE scene throughout the entire Cloverfield movie.

The sheer visceral impact here...a giant monster stomping around our "heroes" as they scurry for cover...all while a massive army attack is occurring...amazing stuff!

I play this scene the loudest possible on my stereo speakers and it always kicks ass!

Here's to Legendary Pictures doing something like this when their Godzilla movie debuts!

Godzilla’s Got Nothing on Live Monster Wrestling

Now this is awesome!

I had chronicled a few months back this type of "event" happening throughout the country, and it's great to report on them again.

(For the original article check it out here).

For reference "Battel" is where men battle in kaiju costumes while in a giant wrestling ring.

Sometimes there's even fake city backdrops to add to the illusion of a giant monster-battle!

As the article from wired.com perfectly states, "Think Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah in the WWE with scaled-down papier-mâché buildings perfect for blindsiding opponents when the ref isn’t looking".

Great stuff!

I wish such events occurred down in here Austin, TX...but oh well. I would so go to them front row and watch all of the action as it happens!

This kind of stuff is out there people, and I highly recommend everyone to check it out!

Godzilla Image of the Day

Even The New Yorker seems to poke fun at Godzilla!

Ohio man's fossil dubbed "Godzillus"

Proof that a real life Godzilla could have existed?

Very far from likely...but that still hasn't stopped dinosaur experts from dubbing a mysterious and unknown fossil "Godzillus".

Found in Nebraska last year and aged around 450 million years old, what looks like a bunch of slabs of rock put together could be an all new unknown dinosaur.

Fascinating stuff!

Looking at the picture from afar it sure does look like the scales right off of Godzilla himself, albeit fossilized!
