Godzilla Image of the Day

Beautiful image.

I love the reddish hue throughout the entire picture.

It instantly evokes a sense of dread...of true dangerous intent from Godzilla here.

This is so good you could easily find it within your average movie trading card deck, it's that good!

Godzilla in a "5 weirdest laws in America" column

It's so weird what one comes across within the Internet sometimes.

Take this column from click2houston.com.

It cites some of the strangest laws ever created within America, and oddly enough they highlight Godzilla within one of them.

Here's what they state:

"No. 5: Monsters must be licensed -- Urbana, Ill.

This one has grown to legendary status online in various forms along the lines of "Monsters are not allowed inside the city limits of Urbana." But that's not entirely true: Monsters are allowed; they just need to be licensed.

The basis for this strange city requirement can be found in an act from 1872, which states that "exhibitions of freaks of nature or monsters" staged for profit within city limits must first receive a license from the city clerk.
"

As the article notes, if Godzilla actually existed and were introduced in Illinois as a roadshow attraction...he would need a license for this.

...but if it's for charity...then not.

Weird huh?

If you want to read the rest of these strange laws check it out here:

Ah if only this were true.

One could just gather up the popcorn and watch the spectacular spectacle from afar.

What might space dinosaurs look like?

Periscopepost.com has a quirky article proposing how dinosaurs would have looked like had they been space-bearing creatures.

They bring up Godzilla as an example, stating "Sure, he was made from nuclear radiation, but who’s to say that out there similar life forms haven’t evolved?"

Interesting theory.

I remember a Discovery Channel show stating that true space-bearing creatures (i.e. those living in the weightlessness of space) would not look like "Grey Aliens".

They would instead be unsymmetrical beings, meaning their appendages (arms/legs) would not have specific coordination, but would rather stick out at random places.

So in essence Godzilla would not be the final the result of a "Space Dinosaur".  It would rather look like something else completely different.

In any case here's the article:

Godzilla Image of the Day

The classic fight, Godzilla vs Godzilla, captured so beautifully in this image.

I know that Toho Studios pretty much pissed on the Godzilla from the 1998 film by having him become the shortest fought opponent in "Godzilla - Final Wars"...but I felt that it was their loss considering the huge opportunities involved.

For better or for worse the so-called "GINO" still has resonance with fans, far more than most kaiju out there.

Next to King Ghidorah this could have been the second most anticipated battle within the movie...if Toho hadn't decided to make it only 10 seconds long.

Oh well.

Fake Tokyo Set For Monsters Vs. Robots Movie "Pacific Rim"

Comicbookmovie.com has a great article showcasing video/photos of the "Tokyo" set from "Pacific Rim".

"Pacific Rim" of course is the highly anticipated kaiju vs giant robots movie from Guillermo Del Toro and Legendary Pictures.

All I can say is that based on what's above...we are all definitely in for a wild ride.

What looks to be the aftereffects of a major fight only confirm just how big this movie is going to be.

Whether this film is a success or not is to be determined...but things are definitely looking good!

Inside Toho: Filming Godzilla

Historyvortex.org has another great article, this one featuring a detailed account of what goes on behind Toho Studios.

Apparently Toho Studios is very secretive about "Sound Stage 9", which is the actual sound stage used to produce Godzilla movies.

Rare access and photos are ever given, and as such what you see here is an artist's recreation of what's inside.

It's not that Toho Studios purposefully keep things so secret...apparently it's because the lighting/work involved is so tight, any outside interference hinders the process!

Godzilla Video of the Day

A few weeks back I had talked about a wild turkey that was terrorizing this poor woman near her residence. She had subsequently dubbed this turkey "Godzilla".

(For the original article please go here).

Now through the wonders of YouTube somebody has actually taken sound/video clips of this incident and turned it into a music video!

One of the best reasons why the Internet exists!

Enjoy!
