Godzilla Trivia of the Day

Did you know...

That in the "Godzilla Vs Biollante" film, the early Biollante rose form was actually going to be something completely different!

Originally Dr. Shiragami's was to have created a fish-rat hybrid of sorts named "Deautalios", and this monster would have battled Godzilla earlier in the film.

Once defeated by Godzilla the King of Monsters would have then devoured him, thus forcing Dr. Shiragami go on and create Biollante.

In all honesty I'm glad that this angle was dropped.

The "fish-rat hybrid" combo denotes a more devious turn for Dr. Shiragami, like he's some mad scientist trying to create wicked forms of life for the sake of being evil.

Keeping the rose form makes everything more tragic, as it instantly correlates with the notion of his lost daughter.

Godzilla Image of the Day

What you're looking at are concept images of Godzilla from the "Godzilla Final Wars" movie.

...who exactly is Yoji Shinkawa, and more importantly...has he ever seen a Godzilla movie?

Just look at these designs.

They look nothing like him. Godzilla doesn't stand erect, nor does he have a body like an Olympic sprinter.

While I realize that the "Godzilla 1998" film also took liberties when it came to Godzilla's design, this film never set out to do this.

We all knew ahead of time that Toho was going to make this the final Godzilla movie (for at least some time period), so this was the design that almost came to be?

Thankfully somebody took a look and rejected them outright, but still it's amazing that they were even considered.

Crazy world.

Godzilla Casino slot?

Check out this amazing video.

Apparently there's a Vegas type casino slot that's been developed that features none other than the King of Monsters himself!

Called "Godzilla on Monster Island", it incorporates the makings of a real-life Vegas slot machine with the Godzilla franchise.

(Now Godzilla has been featured in many types of games before, but this one takes the cake).

Look at how amazing some of the features are!

Just like any other penny-slot, the key is to match rows against one another in order to earn points.

And from the looks of it each matching row wins the user bonus animation such as Mothra flying off, Godzilla using his radioactive breath, even clips from the movies themselves.  (And of course some cash payouts too).

Plus the game is touch-interactive, as certain portions require you to aim Godzilla's radioactive breath using your finger!  You can literally make Godzilla aim at tanks and helicopters.

Fantastic stuff!

I was in Vegas last year and I saw a bunch of movie-themed penny slots...but there was nothing like this.

If I had found something like this I would have played it for hours.

Godzilla Image of the Day

Here's an interesting image someone made comparing various movie monster sizes.

(I don't know what kind of research this person utilized, but I'm guessing they're pretty accurate).

What's interesting to note is that Godzilla remains smaller than the Cloverfield
monster.

I would have thought that Godzilla was taller, as some scenes within the Cloverfield movie barely had Clover taller than some mid-sized skyscrapers, while Godzilla always towers over his.

But then again Clover remained hunched throughout most of the movie, while this image showcases him standing upright.

Look at the Rancor from "Star Wars" though! It's apparently larger than the original King Kong!

(Something doesn't seem right on that comparison, which is the only faulty reporting I see here).

And the Tri-Pod from the "War of the Worlds" movie would have given Godzilla a good run for his money comparing its size.

In any case an interesting Image of the Day.

Godzilla 1985 clips

As a special treat to everyone I've included my favorite clips within the entire "Godzilla 1985" film.

Godzilla is resurrected from his coma, he looks at the puny machine that did it to him, and he is MAD!

I love it when Godzilla charges after the Super X because it truly showcases Godzilla at his most ferocious stage.

Even with the Super X firing everything its got nothing, will stop the King of Monsters from having his revenge.

And then the way he eventually defeats the Super X and the roar he displays afterward...amazing stuff.

(So memorable are these scenes I'm currently including one as my website's wallpaper).

I truly hope that the newest Godzilla movie from Legendary Pictures and Co. incorporate scenes like these, as I feel it's some of the best stuff within any Godzilla film.

Godzilla 1985 Roars

This is a FANTASTIC video YouTube user "Gojira2012" made on all of the Godzilla roars found within the "Godzilla 1985" movie.

I HIGHLY recommend everybody to turn up their speakers as loud as they can when playing this.

You want menacing, this is it!

I don't know what the sound effects people did within this film...but Godzilla has never sounded so evil before.

It instantly reminded me of how ferocious he was during the movie. These are the types of roars that would make anybody hide.

Godzilla Toy of the Day

I know that with this column I usually highlight beautiful looking toys (i.e. poseable/articulate models or statues)...but with this entry I found the concept so intriguing I just had to chronicle it here.

Called the "Godzilla: Stomp! Card Game
", it's a new card game fashioned after past multi-player franchises such as "Magic: The Gathering" and various "Pokemon" sets.

Essentially you play against other opponents and utilize strategy and ingenuity to defeat them.

With 42 building cards and 30 monster attack cards, the variations within the game are seemingly limitless!

One could virtually play game after game and never have one be the same as the other.

One minute you could be kicking butt as Godzilla, the very next you're soundly defeated by Space Godzilla.

I use to play such games before with my friends but I've sort of dropped off on this. But this type of game makes me want to get back now.

In any case I highly suggest everybody to take a further look.

It's set for a cheap price and is great for all Godzilla and card game fans out there.
