Top Pop-culture Websites Reveal What they Are Most Excited to See at SDCC 2012

Now that SDCC 2012 is in go-mode, comicbookmovie.com has a good article highlighting what various entertainment websites are looking forward to seeing there.

(Just as a reminder there's still that rumor (unconfirmed as it's still only from one source, Latinoreview.com) that the new Godzilla movie is going to somehow be presented at SDCC 2012...so it's still a wait and see).

Within those sites is MSN's "Parallel Universe", which comicbookmovie.com has this to say about their interest in Godzilla:

"Don Kaye, lead writer at MSN's Parallel Universe, is split between two things that he wants to see the most: "On the one hand, I am really looking forward to the Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures panel, because I can't wait to get a first look at footage from Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim and Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Both have been shrouded in mystery until now. We're apparently also going to get a peek at Legendary's take on Godzilla. But at the same time, I am super-excited about seeing the Sony presentation on Elysium. I loved District 9 and can't wait to see what Neill Blomkamp has done for his follow-up. If anyone can come up with the big sci-fi movie with big ideas (the one we didn't get this year), it might be him." 

I definitely concur Don, as not only will Godzilla be hinted at but we'll FINALLY see footage from both "Pacific Rim" and "Man of Steel", both films who have been SUPER secret with their footage.

I am so amazed that very few (if any shots) have been released from these films...so hats off to the productions teams for being able to keep things so quiet.

Outside the Box: JIM STARLIN on Batman, Thanos and corporate comic books

Fantastic video that I highly recommend everyone to check out.

For those not in the know Jim Starlin is a great staple within the comic book industry.

Besides multiple popular runs throughout Marvel and DC, his most iconic work remains his creation of Thanos the Mad Titan.

Thanos is considered the ultimate villain of the Marvel Universe, a demigod whose mere actions cause the bulk of Marvel heroes (and villains) to band together to help defeat him.

If you haven't read any of the Thanos books...where have you been?!

The Infinity Gauntlet, Marvel Universe: The End, Silver Surfer: Rebirth of Thanos are just a few of the excellent books out there from him.

Which is why this video is so memorable...as here Jim explains why he'll never work at Marvel (or DC) again, essentially destroying any chance for another Thanos book.

This is everyone's loss for sure, and I hope that one day Jim retracts this statement.

Destroyer 14's Review of GODZILLA #2

Destroyer14 over at comicbookmovie.com continues to provide some solid reviews, this time chronicling issue # 2 of the newest Godzilla series from IDW.

Again I myself haven't read the thing since I'm waiting for it to come out on TPB, but here's an interesting excerpt from Destroyer's review:

"My other problem with this series is the monster bounty hunter angle. C'mon, you know they can't really do anything to these monsters, I know that, and even writer Duane Swierczynski appears to know that, as Anguirus easily clobbers them. This monster bounty hunter angle is pretty much pointless. Boxer is a gruff main character, generic, and lacking the likable exterior that Steven Woods had from Kingdom of Monsters. I'm not saying he's a bad focus, but there's nothing particularly interesting about him. The most fun parts of dialogue is the bickering between him and a Claire, a person he recruited for the cause. (Who happens to be his ex wife.)"

I was getting kind of worried how the bounty hunter theme would work out.

I mean how can one seriously try and "capture" a 200 foot tall kaiju? Especially when it's just a normal set of humans doing the capture.

Wouldn't a simple tail swipe take care of anybody even attempting to wrangle it?
