I think that Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidora was darker than Godzilla 1985. Godzilla actually paused while wreaking havoc in the street to unleash an atomic blast all because some woman was screaming and annoying him. Also, he was so hell-bent on destruction that he continued an attack at the end of the movie that resulted in him essentially self-designating due to the fact that he had a breach in his body but ignored it and continued to use his atomic breath... Plus, he had no pupils, which was freaky.
