How’s this for some tranquility...and eerienes! If you ever wanted to see how whales SLEEP, well here you go.
I know this is supposed to be calming...but anyone else kinda creeped out at the same time?? I see something like this anywhere and I’m sloooowly walking (or swimming) away.
Also doesn’t it vaguely resemble that ethereal DEATH STRANDING game?? Those floating giants seen in the sky during that teaser definitely seem to resemble this here, or maybe I’m stretching things. I haven’t played the game but I’ve seen a bunch of clips here on YouTube and it looks amazing.

Mysteries and Oddities (NEWS): My RANDONAUTING results are in...IT WORK...

Monday, June 1, 2020

I wanted to give everyone a HEADS UP on what’ll be my topic for this month’s Patreon MONTHLY PODCAST...a very personal one again, my time/experience/work days there at JCPENNEY!

That’s right, this was the job I held throughout most of my college days.  Looking back now had an overall blast, but even then there were a few days that were just wild!

As such I’ll spend around 60 to 90 minutes or so focusing on some of the funnest, funniest, scary and craziest things that happened to me there while at JCPENNEY!

You guys and gals will love this!

Cryptids and Monsters (CRYPTID OF THE WEEK): Yeren

Finally added another STAR WARS soundtrack to my collection, in this case being THE LAST JEDI (which I got free thanks to some reward points!). I am TWO soundtracks away from completing my entire SW collection, with the remaining ones being REVENGE OF THE SITH and RISE OF SKYWALKER. I’m in no rush...I’ll get them in time. This is a rare situation where a film I initially hated has now grown on me, especially after that ROS debacle. TLJ took some very bold choices and ran with them, and now that I think about it there’s a lot of covert nostalgic sense involved. Luke’s hermit role was exactly like Obi-Wan’s; Luke’s reluctant training towards Rey was exactly what Yoda did with him; Rey running off early to confront Snoke was exactly what Luke did with Darth Vader; Kylo Ren betraying Snoke was exactly what Vader did with the Emperor; and so on. In any case I’m old school and I love CDs and the photo inserts. I especially love this one...a SKYWALKER training a PALPATINE...very poetic in the SW realm. Damn...it is so true. News always happens in THREEs so let’s see if something else happens soon. Fresh off of SCARFACE JACOB & CO WATCH feature the other day, comes the sad news that the actor who played the SCARFACE villain THE SKULL has passed away. His name was GENO SILVA, and he passed away at the age of 72. I’ll be the first to admit that I had no idea who GENO was, nor have I ever seen any of his other work. But boy oh boy did he play such a memorable role out of THE SKULL. His role is quite possibly the most infamous, non-speaking cameo in cinematic history. If anyone else can find a more impactful one without having one word uttered by the character...I’d love to see it. From the moment THE SKULL was on screen you could just tell he was serious business. With his ever present shades (even at night!), his slowly methodical moves, and his unwavering demeanor, you knew this guy was destined to do something big. And he did! He remains the only character to have officially beat TONY MONTANA. SCARFACE THE SKULL GENO SILVA AUTOGRAPHED MOVIE PHOTO CUSTOM FRAMED BECKETT COA https://amzn.to/3chAi3c

Mysteries and Oddities (NEWS): Want to see my own RANDONAUTING results?...

I keep seeing articles related to the return of the FEATURE PHONE, and how younger consumers are seeking the return of a more simpler life… I agree wholeheartedly. I’m in that camp too. I think a lot can still be done today without having a SMARTPHONE linked 24/7. Much of my YouTube work is done at home...same for maintenance on my various websites. Imagine simple phones with basic fast internet, some streaming options, and go-to apps like calendar and music and camera so on. I would 1000% gladly get a Flip/Feature phone today in a heartbeat if but for one thing...GOOGLE MAPS! For some bizarre, almost insane reason none of these Feature phones today (in 2020!) have viable TURN-BY-TURN options. None. Now some do feature Google Maps...but it’s pretty much IN-NAME-ONLY. It’s that rudimentary, click-by-click option that’s the kiss of death to use while driving. I absolutely need something with spoken LIVE directions for all of my daily work/vacation travels. So strange that Flip phones 10 years ago, at a 1/10 of the technology no less, had such great navigation options...while today’s ones can’t or won’t have them. Dazzam...now this is OLD SCHOOL. Anybody remember these?? OG to the max. I had one of these ages ago but it was well after it had been released. In fact I think I got it at some discount bin at a GOODWILL at the time. I wish I could’ve kept it, not just for nostalgia reasons but because I imagine they’re worth a pretty-penny today...depending on condition and working status of course. But yeah to this day I still recall the monotonous sound it would make. And the frustrating gameplay involved. I don’t think I ever got to the SHREDDER as this was one HARD game to play. Hmmm...not sure whether to be excited or not at this bit of latest SILENT HILL
news.

EXCITED because it’s the first new SILENT HILL project in years, and it features
the return of fan favorites HEATHER (welcome back!) and PYRAMID HEAD!

NOT because well...what in the heck is the DEAD BY DEADLIGHT series??  I
checked both the links to the teaser and then a 10 minute gameplay and I’m
still unsure.  All I saw was a lot of walking around and being chased.  Is that
basically it??

Oh well...I guess it’s the closest we’ll have to another SILENT HILL game in the
meantime.

Wow...if there ever was a case study of losing it all with just one image, it’s this!

Hard to believe that 20 YEARS AGO ago, this week, the infamous DAIKATANA was
released.  Like most people I had no idea what this was back then.  But through the
slow passage of time I learned about the legendary crash-and-burn of JOHN
ROMERO and ION STORM from this game.

And it all started from this very image here...which to this day remains one of the
most SPECTACULAR marketing blunders ever.  The sheer cockiness, arrogance
and hubris it displays was an immediate turn off to fans.  Add the BTS drama within
the studio and it only added to its legendary status.

Much of this is chronicled within the wonderful MASTERS OF DOOM book that I
highly recommend reading (or listening on AUDIOBOOK).  I’ve heard it’s being made
into a potential TV series which’ll make for some excellent show drama.

Anyone here a SCARFACE (1983) fan??  Sure you are, I know I am.  Who can forget such classic moments like “You want a job Ernie??” and “Say hello to my little friend!”.

(Crazy to think that when the film first came out it was a mere shadow of what it is today.  While it didn’t BOMB it also didn’t set the world on fire...AND it was so heavily criticized.  What a difference time makes no).

Well JACOB & CO. have a new exclusive SCARFACE watch coming out soon, which you see here.  Set to be made in two versions, each one only 88 pieces total, it commemorates several moments from the film.  This includes the theme “BOLIVIA” played at 10:00 each day, a silhouette of TONY MONTANA looking over FRANK, and of course “The World Is Yours” globe front and center.

All for the low low low price of $360,000.  Wow…$360,000!  (YES, those zeroes are accurate!)

Yikes!

For this Saturday’s GAMEBOY ART let’s take a look at another blockbuster movie-inspired game, ROBOCOP!  A classic film should have an equally great Gameboy game yes?  Well I’m happy to state that it definitely looks like the case here.

As you can see this level showcases that pivotal scene where ROBOCOP faces ED-209. I love how the game developers captured all of its riveting details.  There’s the executive office the battle took place in.  ED-209 looks amazingly detailed, still as frightening as ever, down to the piston-like joints and darkened visor.  ROBOCOP has enough detail too.  You can even make out that inward dimple he has on his shoulders.

But it’s always the little details that count.

For example you can see the plush executive rug they’re stomping on.  There’s the executive office desk DICK JONES had (with a BONUS DICK JONES sitting in it!), complete with banker desk lamps.  I especially loved seeing the large executive window featuring the DETROIT cityscape in the background, the very city DICK and the OLD MAN were trying to control (or save, from their perspective).

Great stuff!

Ah, good ol’ SIMPSONS!

I saw this neat little trinket there while at the same comic con, at a good price too. Truth be told I didn’t get it because as much as I am a huge SIMPSONS fan...I would suck at so much of the trivia today!

This is because like most life-long SIMPSONS fans I quit watching around the 10th-or-so season. It’s still up for debate as to when the show started to go downhill in terms of quality, but for me it was around then. By the time the show only focused their episodes around celebrities and HOMER started acting like a whiny jerk...that was when I was out.

I’m sure there’s a few gems here or there but you’ll hardly find anyone stating the seasons got better afterwards.
